Installers and Packages

These installers and packages are provided by various NetBeans committers as a convenience. While built using the Apache NetBeans release, they are not releases of the Apache Software Foundation. They may include other contents (eg. JDK) under additional license terms.

Deployment Platforms

Apache NetBeans 28 supports running on JDK 25, 21 or 17.

The Runtime JDK NetBeans uses does not influence the JDK range projects can use.
Use the latest JDK update release for the best experience (see Java Version Almanac).

Known Issues

  • A bug in uutils (Ubuntu default) does also affect the embedded NetBeans terminal, #8938

  • NetBeans 23+ does no longer support String Templates, more info

  • If you encounter problems on windows during RDP sessions (#8236) or while using UNC paths (#8611), try running NetBeans on latest JDK 21

  • Windows/ARM is currently not a fully supported platform

Building from Source

  1. Unzip netbeans-28-source.zip in a directory of your liking.

  2. Follow the build instructions in the README
